Neck Pain Headaches
It's 2 a.m. and you're waking up in pain AGAIN! The neck pain headache is there. You reach to your neck, and you can't move your head without pain. Did something happen at work? Was it the way you slept? Or is there an underlying cause?
Healthy necks tend to work just fine. But when an imbalance exists chronic neck pain, can lead to headaches. Simple movements can lead to muscle tightness, and muscle strain, which can begin a downward spiral.
Don't let Neck Pain "Go to Your Head"
It is not uncommon to have the unlucky combo neck pain headache at the same time. If you've been experiencing neck pain along with your headaches, there's a very good chance the two are related. Headaches that stem from neck pain are found mostly in individuals who have tightness in the posterior neck muscles, which are at the back of the neck.
   A tension headache, also referred to as a muscle-contraction headache, results from over contracted, stiff, muscles in and around the head. In addition to headache, neck pain and pressure are common symptoms of a tension headache. Posture. When the head and neck are in an awkward position for a prolonged period, like when you're balancing the phone between your ear and shoulder, you can experience both head and neck pain. Sleeping with inadequate head and neck support, such as on an airplane or with an overly flattened pillow, can also lead to poor posture and associated head and neck pain.
